A Letter To Teenage Girls

Dear teenage girls,

I know you spend hours a day critiquing your body in the mirror.  I know you feel overwhelmed by all the schoolwork and grades that you cry in your bed every night. I know you are facing problems with your friends, your parents, and your teachers. I know you may trust the wrong person, hurt the people that you didn't mean to, and be through toxic relationships. However, you're not alone; everyone has been through this process, and here's my story. I hope it can inspire you and motivate you.

About a year ago, I moved to Canada to study with my family, and that was the biggest challenge I have ever faced. New language, new environment, different people, and different culture. It felt really exciting in the beginning, but soon I realized that the challenge was way bigger than I thought. Since I went to the same middle school with most of my elementary friends, I haven't faced the problem of making friends for years. However, in this new Canadian high school, I was the one who had NO friends. Can you imagine how it is walking into a new school and seeing everybody else has their own group of friends but you don't? It's really scary, isn't it? With all the cultural differences and language boundaries, it just seems impossible for me to survive high school. Well, looking back after a year right now, even though I struggled so bad, and my life seemed so dark at times, I've made it. I learned about how things work in Canada, my language got improved, and I made many new friends.

So, I wanted to let you know that we will all face challenges that seem to be impossible for us to encounter, but trust me, they will all pass. Just don't give yourself too much pressure, and let it be. Time heals. It's okay if you feel insecure, it's okay if you feel lost, it's okay if you feel lonely. At the end of the day, you will find that none of those things really matters. What's really important is that you've made it your best. Last, I want you to enjoy every moment that you feel happy because they are all memories of your passing youth. Just like what people used to say, you can't be any younger than today.
