5 TIPS YOU Need To Know Before High School

If you're going to be a high school freshman this year, this is just for you!!! Here are my 5 high school freshman advice for you.

1. Make As Many Friends As Possible

I know many of you go to the same high school with your middle school friends, BUT that doesn't mean you guys are going to be friends in high school. You're gonna meet so many new people in high school, so don't just stick to all your old friends (especially if they're toxic)! You will meet people with the same interest as you, who can get along with you better, and even sometimes you can find a completely different friend group. (if you guys want me to write another one about how to make friends, comment below!)

2. Try Different New Things

You're gonna get so many more opportunities in high school. Grade 9 is just a time for you to try different things and discover what you're interested in. There are all kinds of different clubs, school teams, competitions, and activities. So, make sure you try out all the different activities! Also, it's a great way to make more friends and know more people in your school:)

3. Form Good Study Habits

Trust me, high school isn't like middle school, GRADES REALLY MATTER! You can't just play after school anymore, you need to start taking school seriously. Since grade 9 courses won't be really difficult, it is a great time for you to develop good study habits. For example, previewing before class, and reviewing after class; finishing homework first when you get home, and handing in assignments on time. These habits are really important for your next three years of high school.

4. Have Good Relationships With Your Teachers

Your high school teachers may directly influence your grade and you. First of all, they are the ones who gave you your marks, if you go against your teacher, they have the power to change your grade! So, if you want to have good grades, you better have good relationships with them (even if you really hate he/ she). Second, by having good relationships with your teacher, you can get more opportunities. Teachers know more opportunities in school and outside of school than you do. For example, if you're really into biology, talk to your teacher more often and have a good relationship with him/her, they may provide you some really great opportunities. You may also get to know more people or professors who have some authority and can give you a really good recommendation letter for college.

5. Don't Vape Or Do Drugs

I know you think vaping and doing drugs is cool, but DON'T DO IT, you will definitely regret it. It's not good for your body and you might meet some dangerous people. If someone in your school asks you to do it with them, just say no and go away. On the other hand, if most of the people in your school are doing these things, I know you must want to do it too or are doing it to fit in, but no matter which case you are, LET YOUR PARENTS KNOW! I think that is the number one thing that I wish every high school student can know.
