7 BEST Study Tips From a Straight A Student

As an ALWAYS straight-A student since middle school, here are my 10 best study tips that I think work really well for me. These tips helped me to get A's in my classes; they NEVER worked wrong. I know schools are starting, so if you want to have better grades this year, you better read on.

The first 4 tips are the study habits that you should have

1. Take notes

I believe we all know that it is important for us to take notes, especially if your class doesn't have a textbook. There are no particular ways of how you should take your notes, you just have to make sure that it is the best way for you. However, you need to ensure you have all the important stuff and know the most important ones when you read it. Not only can you use your notes to review, but taking notes can also help you process the knowledge.
2. Preview & Review

Many people don't preview and review before and after class because they think it is unnecessary. Why do I have to learn in advance if I'm gonna learn it anyway in class, or why do I have to go over the stuff that I've learned in class again at home? If you're thinking like this, then that's what separates you from being an A student. Previewing before class can help you to understand easier and faster when the teacher teaches the new knowledge in class. Reviewing after class can help you to have a complete overview of what you learned (especially if you learned a lot that day), and can help you find out what you didn't understand.
3. Ask when you don't understand

When you don't understand a part that the teacher teaches in class that day, ask immediately. The longer it takes for you to ask, the easier it is for you to forget about it. For example, if you don't understand a concept that the teacher teaches, you can just ask for an explanation in class. The teacher knows what you're talking about and you know exactly which part you don't understand. However, if you just let it flow away, you still don't understand it, so you won't be able to answer the question on the exams.
4. Pay attention to details

The details are what make some people 10/10 and you 9/10, and on bigger exams, it might mean an A and a B. I don't know if you guys have realized this, but I found that there are always some questions on exams that are about something that the teacher just mentioned about ones. Well, this is just the teacher testing whether you really paid attention in class. So, make sure you give your full attention in class and pay attention to all the details.

The next 3 tips are what you do to study for an exam

5. Redo the questions that you did wrong
Trust me, this is probably the number 1 thing that you should do before an exam. Doing the questions that you did wrong, can really help you to make sure whether you really get that question or not, and which part you need to still work on. (FYI, you should be collecting those questions as a habit).
6. Flashcards
Flashcards are also a great way for you to review, especially if the exam that you're studying requires a lot of memorization. You can either create flashcards by using paper and handwriting them or use an app.  I personally create flashcards using Quizle t, which really helped me to study for many exams.
7. Read your textbook/notes
Some people think that textbook is just the basics and isn't important on hard exams. However, actually, every question on an exam is based on the basic knowledge that the textbook wrote. If you have a complete and thorough understanding of the textbook, your mark won't be bad. On the other hand, I know that many high school students, we don't have textbooks. Then, it's time for us to use your notes. So, in this case, it is really important that your notes are comprehensive.
